Swimming Pool Accessories Inspection Checklist
The pool cover is designed to keep debris out of the pool, and it is mostly used when the pool is not in use for an extended period of time, such as during winter. Depending on the material and design, however, the covers are also used sometimes during the swimming season to minimize heat loss and maximize heat gain.
In addition, there are also safety covers that prevent small children or pets from falling into the pool. Such safety covers are reinforced mesh with spring-loaded straps that hook onto the deck. A pool may also have “thermal or solar” covers, also called solar blankets, basically consisting of a sheet of vinyl bubble wrap that floats on the water. Such covers are put on during the swimming season because they allow the sun to heat the water, while also providing a barrier against evaporation.
Diving boards can be either spring-assisted or simple platform models. To make them waterproof they are covered with fiberglass, and they are also topped with a nonslip coating. Because there is a risk of injury, some homeowners prefer to install jump boards rather than diving boards. Jump boards are shorter and are considered safer than diving boards.
When it comes to ladders, slides and grab rails, the main concern is whether they are properly anchored to the deck. Moreover, the solidly constructed skimmer is another swimming pool accessory that is most important for ongoing maintenance of the pool. The pool’s filter and vacuum system are designed to keep the pool free of smaller debris, but the skimmer will allow you to remove larger debris, including leaves or branches, that could clog the filter or vacuum.
In order to be able to enjoy your swimming pool without any problems or discomfort, a pool inspection should be performed regularly to ensure swimming pool safety, as well the proper operation of all accessories. A professional swimming pool inspection will check all accessories, including the ground pool filters, pumps and siphons, swimming pool chemicals, pool chlorine generator, valves, fittings, skimmers, thermometers and recommend the best replacement parts should any accessories need replacement.
